Do people believe that rebranding in this way will result in more jobs?
Could it revitalise the Burns Corridor, from Irvine to Dumfries?

Cheers, Aulyin

The Ayrshire Airport at Prestwick should promote its own image not hide under the umbrella of Glasgow. If not it will be overshadowed. Promote Burns Corridor.
£25 million upgrade planned for Glasgow airportGlasgow Airport will invest £12 million in 2010, followed by a further £13 million in 2011. The airport is also con...tributing £1 million towards the cost of the M74 extension which, it is hoped, will reduce journey times to and from the airport. In 2008, Glasgow Airport opened the doors to a £31 million terminal extension - the biggest single investment for more than a decade. The extension includes a new security search area, arrivals hall, additional seating and a wider choice of bars, shops and restaurants. Between now and 2014, when Glasgow hosts the Commonwealth Games, the airport expects to spend between £85 million and £100 million on new terminal and airfield facilities.

This petition started a year ago today but it only really took off for real recently, on the 7th of December 2009, to be exact. Since the 7th, 344 people have signed. I'd like to thank them all but ask them to tell their friends, family and associates to sign it as well.

Rename Glasgow Prestwick Airport "THE ROBERT BURNS INTERNATIONAL"!

Prestwick Airport, Scotland's quickest growing international airport, sits on the coast at the heart of Burns Country, in the beautiful county of Ayrshire. Only a short drive away from many of the world's most famous Burns sites, including the place of his birth. Prestwick Airport instead bears the incongruous name Glasgow Prestwick. Glasgow being two counties away, non-coastal and served by its own airport.

How many sustainable jobs would be created through Burns Tourism if we promoted the Burns Corridor?

Gies a haun here. How much money did it cost in 2007 to come up with "Welcome to Scotland" at Scottish airports to let people know where they were?
Only to mix those ones up at Prestwick, Ayrshire with it being called Glasgow Prestwick.

Tourists love being able to tell their companions a wee bit about the local area and speak a touch of the lingo. NOT "pure dead brilliant" but mainly in Burns Scots dialect, such as "gies a haun".
This can mean several things in Scotland, all of them friendly.

Gies a haun and sign the petition.

Would more tourists have tried to come through the Ayrshire airport last year if it had been named "The Robert Burns International Airport, Prestwick"?

Does Prestwick Airport need the name "Glasgow" to let people know where it is?

Is tourism not one of the biggest industries in Scotland? And does Ayrshire not deserve to be internationally known as the birthplace of Burns? The county that made the Ayrshire Ploughman Poet? Our Bard?
Some think that the whole of the south west would benefit from promoting this way.

Some people thought this was true. Some thought this was a great idea. Some think it would make more sense to rename the Ayrshire airport. Some say rename the Ayrshire airport after the Greatest Scot Ever.
ROBERT BURNS INTERNATIONAL

Hope it get things off the ground.

RADIO WEST SOUND lets
THE ROBERT BURNS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Prestwick
take to the air:
Radio West Sound 1035AM - The Best of the 60s, 70s and More!

"The fight has once again taken flight to have Glasgow Prestwick airport renamed to Robert Burns International.

"Campaigners have taken to social networking sites and created an online petition to gather support for the name change.

"Bosses at the Ayrshire hub rejected it during the year of the Homecoming-insisting the Bard would do little to attract tourists to the area."
