“We’re delighted at the response we’ve received to this first stage of the process," said Laura Birrell, associate director at BRE Scotland.

" We were able to attract companies involved in all areas of the construction sector and the feedback on the day was very positive. There was real enthusiasm about the potential opportunities on offer at the innovation park, particularly given the challenges the industry faces at this time due to the credit crunch.

“Our objective is to promote innovation and excellence within the Scottish construction industry through the development of demonstration buildings which meet future environmental requirements.

Murray Collins of Ravenscraig Ltd added, “This project offers a tremendous opportunity to focus on enhancing the health and wellbeing of the people who will live and work in the area and, at the same time, will allow us to showcase what can be achieved by Scottish companies in terms of housing excellence, design and innovation.

“The industry’s very positive response to this event demonstrates the extent of the opportunities on offer and we look forward to working with our partners at BRE Scotland to realise the vision we have for the Ravenscraig site.”
